National Trust

Angel of the North
Anthony Gormley’s world famous and much talked about sculpture looks over both the A1 motorway and the north east mainline into Newcastle and Gateshead, just less than a mile from the hotel. The Sage Gateshead
This magnificent Norman Foster designed building sits proudly on the banks of the Tyne on Gateshead’s quayside. The building is the home of Northern Sinfonia and the building has a year round programme of a wide range of music including classical, folk, pop, rock, jazz, electronic and dance. BALTIC
Housed in a landmark industrial building on the south bank of the River Tyne in Gateshead, BALTIC is the biggest gallery of its kind in the world, presenting a dynamic, diverse and international programme of contemporary visual art. BALTIC has no permanent collection, providing instead an ever-changing calendar of exhibitions and activities, ranging from blockbuster exhibitions to innovative new work and art created within the local community. www.balticmill.com
Beamish Open Air Museum
This award-winning museum is set in 300 acres of beautiful County Durham countryside. Take a tram ride into the past to see what life was really like in North East England in the early 1800s and early 1900s. Durham
Famed for it's magnificent cathedral and castle, which are jointly a Unesco World Heritage site, Durham is a charming university town, nestled on the banks of the river Wear. Its pretty cobbled streets are lined with smart boutiques, restaurants and bars, making the town a great place for a day trip. There are beautiful walks along the river banks with sculpture along the way and the town also has attractions such as the Gala Theatre, the Botanical Gardens and the Oriental and Durham Light Infantry Museums. www.visitcountydurham.com
